Bill McKnight currently works for a Health and Social Services Trust. His work takes him onto the streets of Belfast where he has the opportunity to work and share his personal experience of mental illness with others who have serious mental health problems.
Bill’s writings have appeared in Shunned: discrimination against people with mental illness by Graham Thornicroft (Oxford University Press, 2006) and Asylums, Mental Health Care and the Irish edited by Pauline Prior (Irish Academic Press, 2012).
His poetry reading at the plenary session at the Fourth International Stigma Conference in 2009 received critical acclaim.
Loud Silence is his first poetry collection.
